Do’s and don’ts for an apple-shaped body

Posted in Style Advice Mar 26, 2015 Flora 0 comments

Do you have a wide torso, broad shoulders and a full bust? Than you have an apple-shaped body, as they call it in fashion world. We call it: sexy, fruity and juicy! Exactly, you have the feminine shapes and curves so flaunt them! Read more about how to dress, here!

Checklist apple:

  • Slim arms and legs
  • Bigger upper body, often with a belly

Focus on your assets. For your body specifically the secret formula is: adding flair to your upper as well as your lower half. The effect you want to create is to make your torso look less wide, accentuate your legs and create a slim waist. So go for trousers with a flashy print or fabric that doesn’t fit too tightly around your legs like bootcuts. Not a fan of these styles? You can also pull of a straight pretty well.

Avoid shapeless and tightly fitted tops. Rather choose fitted jackets or long tops with a tighter waistband. Try to leave your skinny jeans in the closet, this makes your torso look wider. Finish off your outfit with a pair of heels to accentuate your long legs. Applicious!

Do’s:

  • Plain or dark tops with V-neck
  • Loose-fitting blouses
  • Trousers with details and prints
  • Accentuate your legs with short skirts and straight trousers
  • Bootcuts or straight jeans

Don’ts:

  • Chunky knits
  • Long wide, shapeless tops
  • Wide baggy trousers
