Some people have a slim waist and broad shoulders, others slim calves and a full backside and other people have short or long legs. In a nutshell: everybody’s different. Although we appreciate these differences, not everybody is that pleased with their own body type. When you have short or long legs, it can be hard to find the right jeans. In that case, these tips on accentuating your legs or making them look longer can come in handy.
Short legs
Of course you don’t necessarily have to make your legs look longer. It’s very possible that you’re perfectly balanced because you’re simply not that tall. However, it might also happen that you’ve got short legs in combination with a longer torso. With the following tips you can make your legs look longer:
- Try plain jeans without a wash. This directs the attention away from your shorter legs. Would you rather wear jeans with a wash? This isn’t impossible; just make sure that the wash continues for the whole length of the leg. This makes your legs seem longer. If the wash stops at or above the knee, it will make your legs look wide.
- With the right print it’s possible to optically lengthen your legs. A vertical striped pattern works excellently. Long, straight lines have a lengthening effect. Bold prints or colours aren’t the best choice for your body type. These will draw extra attention to your legs.
- Do you love loose-fitting styles, like boyfriend jeans? Wear this design slightly higher on the hips and make sure that they’re not too loose, so that your legs don’t look shorter than they are.
- Optically lengthen your legs by shortening your torso. You can achieve this by choosing jeans with a high waist. Tuck your blouse or top into your jeans to make your legs look longer. Add an inch or two by wearing your perfect jeans together with high heels.
So which jeans or trousers are best for short legs? Flared jeans, bootcut or skinny jeans are perfect for you!
Long legs
What one sees as an ideal of beauty, another sees as less beautiful or even bothersome. We’re talking about those endlessly long legs that some women are blessed with. Would you like to accentuate your long legs or would you prefer to redirect the attention? We’ll tell you how:
- Would you like to show off and make your legs look even longer and/or slimmer? Try a design with a vertical stripe pattern. This optically lengthens your legs!
- Flared jeans will make your legs look longer in no time. This design is fitted at the thigh and flares around the calf, providing extra length. Pair with high heels for endless legs.
- Would you prefer to direct the attention away from your legs? Opt for a contrasting look and pair plain jeans with a distinctive item: a top or shoes in a bold colour will draw attention away from your legs.
- When it comes to colours and washes, almost everything suits people with long legs. Washes that stop above the knee will make your legs look shorter and washes that continue for the entire length of the leg will make them look longer. Go ahead: pick light jeans, dark trousers or a striking print!
- When it comes to various designs, people with long legs also have plenty of choice. Why not try the popular boyfriend jeans? This design has a slightly shortening effect because of the wide, loose fit. Wear them low on the hips to optically shorten your legs and lengthen your torso.
- Not a fan of ankle jeans? In that case, finding jeans can be hard. Fortunately we’ve got a small collection of Tall jeans with lengths of 35 or 36 inches for tall women. They’re available in different designs.
So which jeans or trousers are best for long legs? Women with this body type are in luck, as they can wear almost any style. However, flared jeans, bootcut or skinny jeans will look especially good!
